If you recurring yeast infections, migraine headaches, knee pain, fatigue, rashes, problems with bowel movements, and brain fog, you may have a condition called candidiasis. The microorganism Candida albicans is naturally occurring in many people. It resides in your intestines and is responsible for helping maintain a healthy digestive system. However, if this yeast starts to grow and reproduce too quickly it can cause some of the unpleasant symptoms above. Change Your Diet
One of the reasons diabetics are prone to yeast infections is because the high sugar in their blood feed the yeast. So, to get rid of the excess yeast you need to starve it. This means no more sugar for a while–nothing with added sugar and limit foods that naturally contains sugars such as fruits. Avoid anything that contains yeast, which includes most breads and alcohols, and do not drink any milk. Once you are sure the candidiasis is fixed, be sure to limit all the above foods to prevent another overgrowth.
Clean Your Gut
Now that the little yeast organisms are no longer reproducing you need to clean them out. There are many antifungal herbs and pills available to kill them and sweep them from your intestinal tract. Your doctor may prescribe one for you. Make sure you complete the prescription before moving onto the next step.
Repopulate your Gut Flora
While it might seem silly to introduce microorganisms into your system, you need it regulate what is in there. Without the good microorganisms, the bad ones will take over and you will become ill. To repopulate gut flora, eat fermented foods. This includes things like sauerkraut, tempeh, yogurt, and kimchi.
While it is important to use some type of antifungal medication for candida treatment, if you don’t make some changes in your gut it will just keep coming back. If you need to take an antibiotic at some point to take care of a bacterial infection, or if you are diabetic, it is important to be on the lookout for candidiasis. The sooner you notice the symptoms and start to clear things up, the sooner you will feel better. While nothing can guarantee you won’t have the occasional bout of candida once is a while, getting rid of the rash alone will not keep you from suffering with the other symptoms. Any time you have an overgrowth, be sure to get rid of it completely to feel better.
